SALZ Automation is part of the technology network it's OWL

In the technology network Intelligent Technical Systems OstWestfalenLippe, in short it's OWL, more than 200 companies, research institutions and organizations are developing solutions for intelligent products and production processes. Awarded in the German government's Leading-Edge Cluster Competition, it's OWL is considered one of the largest initiatives for Industry 4.0 in medium-sized companies. SALZ Automation is now one of these pioneers in the cluster.

Intelligent technical systems for medium-sized businesses

Ostwestfalen-Lippe is among the strongest production areas in Europe, characterised by a high concentration of employment, capacity for innovation and export quota. The region has 400 companies in mechanical engineering, the electrical and electronics industry and the automotive supply industry, providing jobs for around 80,000 employees and generating annual revenue of EUR 17 billion.

Characteristics of it's OWL are the close interaction between medium-sized technology leaders and application-oriented research institutions in the manufacturing sector. New technologies are jointly developed and made available in practical offers for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The international partner network is one of the main characteristics of SALZ Automation, therefore it is a great enrichment for us to be able to actively participate in this technology network.

The technology network was founded in 2012 after the Federal Ministry of Education and Research awarded it's OWL, the title of winner in the Leading-Edge Cluster Competition. The basis was a strategy concept developed by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Gausemeier and coordinated by OstWestfalenLippe GmbH. From 2012 to 2017, 47 projects with a project volume of 100 million euros were implemented as part of the Leading-Edge Cluster with the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
